Owner, Michele Gillman

Hello... my name is Michele Gillman.  Like so many women I wear a lot of "hats" in life (that's code for I am a lot of things to a lot of people).  I'm a proud member of the fabulous 40+ Club.  I'm wife to Adam, the coolest and funniest man I know AND my ROCK!  I'm also mom to two very busy teenagers that keep me my on my toes and are my teachers in life.  I'm a Certified Personal Trainer (NASM), Fitness Lifestyle Coach and Owner of Mpower Fitness, which came to life in 2009.

From its inception I wanted Mpower Fitness to be different from the norm in the fitness world.  Yes, as a trainer I help women lose weight and exercise more but my ultimate goals run much deeper than that.  I have a passion for helping busy women because I am in the trenches with them.  I connect with my clients and they appreciate that I struggle to "do it all" just like them.

If what I do and how I do it sounds like a good fit for you, I would love to support you!

My Path

My path to Mpower Fitness was far from a focused singular one. It seems funny to look back now, but as I entered college I wanted to be a Corporate Fitness Instructor. I wasn't completely sure what that was, but it sounded really interesting and fun. Four years later I graduated with a BA in Psychology. After college I dabbled in pharmaceutical sales, pursued a career in physical therapy and even managed to earn a Masters in Education and a Single-Subject Credential in Health. I was also fortunate to spend 10 years as an at-home mom when my two sons were young. I feel as though every twist and turn I've taken, both professionally and personally have led up to my work with Mpower. In many ways, I guess you could say my life has come full circle.

My Passion

Like many trainers, I definitely have a passion for all things health and fitness.  But truth be told, my REAL TRUE passion is inspiring women and giving them hope to make powerful changes in their lives. I love motivating women to integrate exercise and balanced eating into their lives by creating realistic goals that they can accomplish. Nothing gives me greater joy than to support women on their journey and empowering them to create a healthier and happier life.

My Purpose

The work I get to do through Mpower Fitness honestly embodies everything I have been, that I currently am, and that I aspire to be in the future. Being a trainer, coach and even dance instructor are not just "things" I do, they are part of who I am. I feel as if there is an empty space in the world of health and fitness.  Unfortunately, this is a space where 40+, busy, stressed women fall into. I'm on a mission to help fill that space. I want to fill it with our Mpower tribe! A powerful community of strong, fit and fabulous women who support, inspire and motivate each other.

want to get to know me a little more… read on for the down and dirty!

I’m not known for my culinary skills, but I make a mean spinach dip AND I’m a tad famous for my holiday Mpower Nut Sacs!

I may not be 20 years old, but I can hold my own on a dance floor! Check out my attempt at the 2018 “In My Feelings” Challenge (Google it if you haven’t heard of it)!

I believe music (and DANCE) has the power to motivate, heal and move us in very powerful ways! I also have over 50,000 songs in my repertoire so I’m kind of a “wanna be DJ!” I’ve got a song for every emotion imaginable!

Family is everything to me and these guys have been the greatest gift I’ve been given! I may be their mom, but they are my greatest teachers!

I once seriously thought I could be one of the Fly Girls on “IN LIVING COLOR” (a 90’s TV show)… but J Lo robbed me of that dream when she got the job!

I am a true AMBIVERT! The extraverted part of me LOVES to be with people, but I’m also very good at being alone! Check out this pic during my day alone in the desert in 2018! I blogged about it so if you want to read more click HERE!

I did my first Vision Board over 25 years ago, and I believe they can be a powerful tool to manifesting your wants, needs and desires in life!

I hit my “rock bottom” (my lowest point and highest weight) in 2006! It wasn’t the number on the scale so much as HOW I FELT IN MY BODY! I avoided being in pictures whenever I could and I hid in the ones that were unavoidable!! It was a very difficult time for me personally, because I felt embarrassed that I couldn’t get my s#&t together and lose the weight! It also served as one of the biggest lessons for me because I truly understand the mindset of my clients and what they struggle with!

I’ve always had a secret desire to act (TV or movies)! I don’t need the fame and spotlight, but the idea of playing the role of a character is so intriguing to me!

I’m just putting out into the universe that on my BUCKET LIST is…. dancing with Ellen on her show!

I married my high school prom date!

Having been diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) over 25 years ago, I empathize with so many women who struggle with digestive issues!

Depending on my mood and the situation, you’ll find me with a Cadillac Margarita (I make the best), a lovely glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or if I’m feeling really sassy and classy… a FILTHY dirty martini!
