My Day ALONE In The Desert

What if you could have an entire day all to yourself.. what would you do????

I went soul searching in the Mojave Desert ALONE! One full day to go wherever the wind took me and do whatever I wanted to do!  Of course this took some planning, two months to be exact, but it was an extraordinary day and one I'll always remember!

In case you're wondering why in the hell would I want to go to the middle of nowhere alone, all I can tell you is that I felt a calling in some way to strip away all the hustle and bustle of my VERY busy life and just BE for a day, and the desert seemed like the perfect place to do this.

So FIRST, I rented a cute Jeep Wrangler because... well why the hell not?  If you're going to have a desert adventure you might as well do it right! #badassmom

About 6 months ago, a friend told me about a dome shaped structure near Joshua Tree called the Integratron.  The story behind it is fascinating! Click HERE to learn more about it.  In a nutshell, it's an all wood dome (no screws, no nails, no metal of any kind) originally designed to be an electrostatic generator for the purpose of rejuvenation and time travel.  OK.. STAY WITH ME ON THIS!!  Despite it's unique and certainly odd history, the Integratron attracts tourists from all over the world to experience what they call a Sound Bath.  For those of you wondering, yes, you keep your clothes on!

According to the Integratron website, a Sound Bath is like "kindergarten nap time for grown ups in a sound sphere."  Myself and 29 other relaxation seekers got a brief history lesson on the structure, as well as 25 minutes of quartz crystal bowls played live while we rested comfortably on mats inside of the deeply resonant sound chamber.  I know it may seem a bit "out there" for some of you, but trust me... it was very cool!

Here are some pics at the Integratron:

Then I had a delightful lunch ALONE (which is still often super uncomfortable for me for some strange reason) at La Copine, an upscale diner that was only several miles from the Integratron and recently featured on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel.

After lunch I took off (windows down and music blaring) for Joshua Tree with the intention of taking in a beautiful sunset and boy did I get my wish!  Take a look at what it was like at Keys View, one of the highest peaks in Joshua Tree.  The video above was also recorded there!  LOL... I had some Japanese tourists near me while I was recording and after I finished they asked me if I was a celebrity! #celebrityloner

My day to UNPLUG from everyday life was a total success!  I think my husband wants to send me to the desert every month, because I came home completely relaxed, recharged and much nicer!  LOL!

If you had an entire day to UNPLUG, where would you go and what would you do?
